Steps:

  1. Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries.
  2. Remove all of the visible screws on the outside of the case.
  3. There should be three of them that are all easily located.

  5. Open the memory card compartment.
  6. Remove the screw next to the memory card slot.
  7. Step image
  8. Pull apart the front and back cover pieces carefully.
  9. The front cover should come completely free with little effort.
  10. The back cover will still be attached to the circuit board.

  12. Simultaneously unclip all of the clips holding in the circuitry. Remove the back case.
  13. The circuitry will still be connected to the back case by ribbon cables.

  15. Open the case as shown.

  17. Unclip the clip holding the ribbon cable in.
  18. Other ribbon cables might not have a clips.

  20. Pull the ribbon cable out.
  21. Step image
  22. Remove all six screws on the front side of the motherboard circled in the picture.
  23. Pull the motherboard from the rest of the housing.
  24. It will still be connected to the flash unit.

  26. Remove the cable on the back side of the motherboard.
  27. Step image
  28. Detach the ribbon cables shown.
  29. Careful! Touching the leads of the large yellow capacitor can result in a painful shock.
  30. Remove the flash unit from the motherboard.

  32. The motherboard is now free, and ready to be replaced by a new one.
