Sega Genesis Motherboard Replacement

Steps:

  1. Remove the six screws from the underside of the console with a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
  2. Step image
  3. Flip the Sega Genesis upright.
  4. Step image
  5. Gently lift the top casing.
  6. Note: the case will be connected to the main board by LED wires.
  7. Step image
  8. Bend out the LED leads into vertical positions.
  9. Step image
  10. Slide the LED wire apparatus off the lead pins.
  11. Note: observe which color wire corresponds with which length of pin.

  13. Separate the main board from the outer case.

  15. Remove single black screw from the outside of the bottom cover, using a Philips screwdriver.
  16. Step image
  17. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove 11 screws securing silver casing.
  18. Step image
  19. Remove silver case.
  20. Step image
  21. Remove single golden screw on motherboard using Philips screwdriver.
  22. Note: Push headphone jack to the side.
  23. Step image
  24. Remove two black screws on the left and right sides of the cartridge slot.
  25. Step image
  26. Remove motherboard.
  27. Step image
  28. Re-install new motherboard.
