HP Pavilion dv6000 Camera Replacement

Steps:

  1. Remove rubber screw covers from the LCD screen. They cover the screws. The stops on the top of the screen pop off, but the lower covers require a screwdriver to remove.
  2. If you need to use the screwdriver to remove the rubber screw covers, gently push the screwdriver down the edge of the stopper and then use the screwdriver as a lever to pry the cover from the hole.
  3. Remove the six 7.15mm screws underneath the stoppers. There are four on top and two on bottom.

  5. Press the tabs in on the sides of the screen and pop the plastic covering off.
  6. The edges of the LCD screen are very sharp. Take care to not cut your fingers!

  8. Lift the screen out of the casing at the top near the camera.
  9. Take care to not snap the plastic casing! It is brittle and still attached to the bottom of the screen.

  11. Gently remove the main cable from the camera.

  13. There are three clasps holding the camera down. Gingerly lift the camera board up, being careful not to snap the board, clasps, or vertical plastic pins (inside the gold-colored rings).
  14. The metal tabs to the left and right of the camera (for the LCD) are sharp, watch your fingers!

  16. Remove the camera unit from the laptop and you are done!
