Steps:

1. Put the phone face down so that the battery cover is showing.

2. Use your thumb to push the battery cover off.
3. Lift the battery off the device.

4. Remove the five screws with a size 00 screwdriver. There are 4 in the corners and one on the top as shown.

5. Carefully remove the back cover by using the iPod Opening Tool in the slots on the bottom of the device.
6. Note: some force must be applied to remove back cover.
