Nokia 8260 Keypad Replacement

Description: How to remove the keypad.

Steps:

  1. Turn off the cell phone.

  3. Press down on the round button on the back cover of the phone.
  4. Step image
  5. Slide the back cover down while still pressing the button.
  6. Step image
  7. Remove the back cover.
  8. Step image
  9. Press the end of the battery towards the top of the phone.
  10. Step image
  11. Lift the battery outwards while still pressing it upwards till it pops out.
  12. You may need to take several attempts to lift out the battery.

  14. Squeeze the flat end of the spudger into the crack right under the word "Nokia" on the back of the phone.
  15. This step may be a bit difficult if you are removing the antenna for the first time.

  17. Pry open the antenna door by pulling down the top of the spudger

  19. Remove the antenna door.
  20. Step image
  21. If the gold antenna remained stuck to the door, you have finished removing the antenna from the phone.
  22. If the gold antenna is still in the phone, carefully remove it and stick it onto the back of the door.
  23. Try to keep the antenna as flat as possible. Do not bend it.

  25. Remove the five screws with the Torx Screwdriver: two near the bottom, two in the middle, and one under the antenna door.
  26. The two bottom screws are longer than the upper three.

  28. Remove the back covering.

  30. Remove the two screws at the top.

  32. Remove the metal plating and the circuit board.
  33. There is nothing holding the rest of the phone together. Handle the rest of the phone carefully.
  34. The LCD will be attached to the circuit board.

  36. Remove the plastic border lying on the keypad.
  37. Step image
  38. Remove the keypad.
  39. Depending on what you are doing, you can take out or leave the buttons to the keypad in the front casing.
